Mary Berry watch out! Our very own Steve Patterson scooped Best Looking and – more Importantly – Best Tasting cake in this year’s Penketh Group Bake Off.
With its adorable white chocolate snowmen and mini snowballs, his red velvet cake topped with scrumptious icing was a unanimous winner with staff.
Steve, Design Manager for The Penketh Group, said: “I’m delighted to have won the third Penketh Group Bake Off! My wife is an amazing baker and everyone loves her famous Rolo cake recipe so I was delighted to do her recipe justice.”
Second place in our Best Looking Cake category went to our MD Mark Penketh for his chocolate cake decorated with chocolate fingers and topped with a cheeky sprinkling of M&Ms; while in third place was Purchasing Manager Michelle Killian’s delicious Nutella cheesecake topped with chocolate.
Runner’s up in our Best Tasting Cake category were IT Manager Iain Scott with his banoffee cake smothered in chocolate and, in third place, Michelle Killian with her cheesecake.
We love to get involved in local charity work and The Bake Off is one of our last two fundraisers for 2016. We raised £47.50 on the day and will be raising more later this week with our Staff Christmas Jumper Day fundraiser.
We are also still collecting your empty printer toner cartridges which we can recycle to raise extra funds. Simply ask us for one of our cardboard toner collection bins and we will collect any empty cartridges when we deliver your next order.
Throughout 2016 we will have raised £8,000 for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity to help them fund pioneering research, new treatments and vital support services that may otherwise be unavailable.
