After the success of past years, Penketh Group’s Ladies Day celebration has become a bit of a coveted calendar event. It’s all about getting together with movers and shakers in the A&D industry and using the rather glamorous occasion of the Grand National as the perfect excuse for a knees-up.
This year, we boasted a brilliant new addition in our Welcome Space in the form of a makeshift Gin Bar constructed using Sixteen3‘s innovative new modular system, Calvert.
Calvert can be personalised and adapted in a whole plethora of different ways but we decided to take advantage of the optics feature to offer our guests a refreshing G&T with seasonal garnishes to sip before taking their place at the table.
We took the chance to catch up with some old friends, familiar faces and newcomers to the community over a tower of sweet and savoury afternoon tea while the mid-afternoon sun beamed through our showroom windows. Each guest took their place in front of their personalised Manchester Gin miniature and waited patiently for the races to commence.
We even had a bit of magic amidst the mingling from James Livingstone who dropped jaws with mind-boggling illusions and some good old classic card tricks.
As is customary, we endowed our guests with a shimmering silver envelope of Penketh Pounds with which they could place their well-educated bets. We cheered the horses through each of the afternoon’s races and waited with bated breath to see who would clinch the top spots. With the betting slips in, races complete and all Penketh Pounds accounted for, we did our calculations and then awarded the prizes to the deserving winners.
Spoils included a luxurious Harvey Nichols hamper, a £150 voucher to dine at The Ivy and £100 to spend at Selfridges. The consolation prizes were, of course, a heckling from our man on the mic and gag extraordinaire, Dave Finn.
We hope all of our lovely winners enjoy their prizes and want to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to everybody who came along to celebrate with us. A big thank you once again to our friends at Sixteen3 for providing the Calvert system for our Gin Bar – a versatile new product which will be available to view in our new-look showroom in the very near future.
