A smooth relocation and transformation for BCLP

Following a competitive tender process, the Penketh Interiors team was recently appointed as furniture consultancy and supply partner for Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP). The international law firm was relocating it’s Manchester office to a new workspace at 40 Spring Gardens, supporting the law firm’s continued growth in the North West. We worked in collaboration with local interior design studio, Space Invader to furnish the space, ensuring brand consistency across BCLP’s multi-site UK presence.

“Aimee and the team consistently went above and beyond throughout the entire process, and we truly couldn’t be happier with the experience. From our very first consultation, they took the time to understand our vision, needs, and budget, offering thoughtful guidance and creative solutions that we hadn’t even considered. Their expertise in furniture selection, space planning, and overall design strategy was evident at every stage.”

A prolific office (re)location in the heart of Manchester

Located on Spring Gardens, just off King Street, the new office sits within one of Manchester’s most historic commercial quarters. The street forms part of the city’s traditional financial and legal district, surrounded by notable landmarks including Manchester Central Library, St Peter’s Square and Deansgate.

The building itself is positioned within a conservation area known for its mix of Victorian and Edwardian architecture, once home to banks, insurers and shipping offices during Manchester’s rise as a global trading city. Today, it remains a prime location for professional services firms, including BCLP.

A design scheme that means business but feels human

The overall look and feel was developed to mirror BCLP’s London office, strengthening brand identity and delivering a consistent experience across locations. It is classic corporate with a fresh, modern edge, blending clean lines and a sleek aesthetic with softer, more residential-style elements to create a welcoming environment for both employees and visitors.

The furniture portfolio specified and supplied by our team includes desk banks, meeting room tables and task seating, paired with soft seating and sofas to help the space feel more like a home-from-home. The resimercial side of the design scheme is enhanced with things like light wood worktops, rugs, ambient lamps and indoor plants.

The fabrics and finishes selected help to introduce warmth while still maintaining a polished, professional finish. All were carefully selected to support both the aesthetic direction and day-to-day functionality of the space, ensuring durability, comfort and visual coherence.

A smooth move and sustainability credentials

Alongside furniture supply, the Penketh Interiors team also played a key role in move management as BCLP wanted to relocate a significant amount of existing furniture from its previous Manchester office into the new workspace.

We coordinated the logistics of this office relocation to ensure items were transported safely, delivered on time and installed with minimal disruption to the wider office fit out programme and to BCLP staff. This careful planning allowed reused and new furniture to sit seamlessly together within the completed office design.

As well as achieving the client’s goals, the overall project also aligned with the building’s sustainability credentials, which achieved a BREEAM rating, reflecting a commitment to environmental performance and responsible office refurbishment.
